About Me

I share my lovely children and quaint home with a beautiful man, Justin, to whom I’ve been married to eleven years. We met when we were in college at a dance, courted for three years, and then married beneath a pergola dripping with roses and hydrangeas at an estate located on the Great South Bay on southeastern Long Island. It was a fairytale wedding all the way. And though I didn’t think it was possible at the time, I love Justin more today than I did then. He is a robotics engineer who loves all things computers, web design, coding, blogging, etc. Justin is a man of great integrity and gentle with endless patience.

Kate, our daughter, is four years old but going on fourteen. She is sassy, sweet and well beyond her years. She is a spirited child that, in the words of my sister, “is girl enough for the whole family.” Like her Mommy, Kate likes to decorate but not only the house - she is quite the fashion diva coming up with outfits and “concoctions” as she calls them that are truly one-of-a-kind. Riley, our son is 17 months old and is quite possibly the most darling little boy in the entire world. We call him “Smiley Riley” because he is such a love. Riley does keep us on our toes, however, with typical boy behavior of getting into and on top of everything. Like his Daddy, he likes to take things apart and put them back together again trying to figure out how things work.

As for me, I enjoy writing, decorating, painting, and gardening. I was in research and editing in the field of academia working at both Boston University and Boston College before taking on my greatest job as “mother” in 2003. Since then, I have used the time at home with my babies to try different things like writing for a local newspaper for a year and going back to school for my Masters in Education (English). Beginning Thistlebees a year ago was completely by chance when I saw a sign for “vendors wanted” at a local shop that was opening in town. By February 2008, I moved to a bigger shop at the Cider Mill Building, and haven’t stopped sanding, painting, and antiquing since.
